기도는 전적으로 하나님께 드리는 개인적인 고백이어야 합니다. 하지만 주일 대예배에서 회중을 대표하여 기도할 때에는 중언부언되지 않도록 미리 공기도문을 작성하여야 할 것입니다. 만일 다른 사람이 써놓은 우수한 기도문을 따를 때에는 그 영성을 충분히 내재화하여 자신의 기도로 만들어야 하고, 그것을 그대로 답습하여서는 안 됩니다.

1. 대림 기간은 하나님께서 성자를 보내신 것을 기념하는 기간입니다. 대림절은 주 예수 그리스도의 성탄에 앞서서 주님께서 오실 길을 예비하는 시기입니다. 예수님의 탄생을 기억하며 그를 예비하는 우리가 되도록 기도합시다.
   
   
2. 오늘은 대림절 첫째 주일입니다. 결혼을 앞둔 신부가 스스로를 돌보고 준비하듯이, 예수님을 맞이하기 위해 우리의 다짐을 새로이 하도록 기도합시다.
   
   
3. 예수님께서는 당시 세상 사람들이 배제하였던 타자로 오셨음을 기억하며, 우리는 타자를 배제하지 않도록 기도합시다.

Heavenly Father, Creator of time and eternity,

We come before you during this season of Advent with hearts full of anticipation and joy. We recognize the significance of this period, a time when we commemorate the sending of your Son, the Holy One, into the world. We thank You, God, for the opportunity to ready our hearts for the coming of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World.

As we enter the first week of Advent, we prepare ourselves like a bride preparing herself for marriage. Just as a bride tends to herself in eager anticipation of the wedding day, may we, your people, prepare ourselves to receive Jesus into our lives with renewed commitment and devotion. May our hearts be adorned with love, humility, and a deep sense of expectation as we await the celebration of the Savior's birth.

Lord, during this season of Advent, help us to remember the manger where the Lord was born. As Mary and Joseph sought shelter in a humble stable, may we be mindful of the unhoused whom the society too often overlooks. Just as Jesus was embraced by the outcasts of his time, may we open our hearts to embrace the marginalized in our midst. Teach us to love as you love, without prejudice or exclusion.

In this season of reflection and anticipation, we pray for the grace to welcome Jesus into the various aspects of our lives. Help us to turn away from distractions and to focus our hearts and minds on the true meaning of Your coming. May the spirit of generosity and kindness prevail in our actions, as we seek to live out the teachings of your Son.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the precious gift of Jesus, the Light of the World. As we prepare to celebrate His birth, guide us in following Him as our Savior and Lord. May our lives reflect His love, compassion, and grace. In His holy name, we offer these prayers. Amen.
